Ivanov complained to Duncan about interference from neighbours and the status quo situation with EU and NATO membership

-

The country’s President, Gjorge Ivanov, at today’s meeting with the British State Minister for Europe and the Americas, Sir Alan Duncan, expressed his dissatisfaction of the lack of public condemnation for interferences in Macedonia’s internal affairs by some of Macedonia’s neighbouring countries.

At the meeting, Ivanov’s cabinet says, the Macedonian President and the British diplomat exchanged their views on the political crisis in the country and ways to solve it. There were also talks about the bilateral relations between the two countries, the situation in Europe and the Union, the migrant crisis and the situation in the region.

“Regarding NATO, President Ivanov has expressed disappointment because of the double standards, the disrespect of the verdict of the International Court of Justice and the rule of law in the case of Macedonia. Regarding the European Union, the Macedonian President called for the unblocking of the enlargement process which mobilizes and reforms society. President Ivanov expects clear support from the United Kingdom in terms of achieving strategic objectives of the Republic of Macedonia”, said the statement issued by Ivanov’s cabinet regarding the meeting.

The British Minister stressed that the United Kingdom wants a stable Republic of Macedonia and that it doesn’t want to interfere in the country’s internal affairs. He has expressed an understanding about the justified revolt concerning the European and the Euro-Atlantic integrations and has stressed that they will support Macedonia regarding these issues.
