“I welcome the Agreement of Friendship, Good Neighborly Relations and Cooperation with the Republic of Macedonia. It is important for the people of both the Republic of Bulgaria and the Republic of Macedonia, but also for the whole region”.
This was announced by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Hoyt Brian Yee at a meeting with Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ekaterina Zaharieva at the Bled Strategic Forum in Slovenia, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry stated.
“I hope this agreement will create an excellent atmosphere, in which the Republic of Macedonia will improve its relations with its other neighbours”, Yee added.
Zaharieva said at the meeting that one of the biggest benefits of the agreement is that it was made without foreign assistance, as both parties showed that they can solve their issues without intermediaries or mediators.
Zaharieva and Hoyt Yee also discussed the current political situation in the region and Bulgaria’s foreign policy initiatives.
