The Helsinki Committee for Human Rights has not found any violations of procedures under the Constitution and the Laws regarding the detainment of six MPs suspected of violence, which occurred in Parliament on the 27th of April, last year.
Today, the Helsinki Committee reported that they had come to this conclusion after complaints were filed by MPs from the opposition VMRO-DPMNE, concerning the detainment of their colleagues.
The Helsinki Committee also stated that the judge acted correctly when he first ordered the detention of the MPs so he could interview them and decide on the “merits and necessity of the proposed measures that affect their personal rights and freedom”.
Therefore, the Committee was unable “to determine with certainty whether handcuffs were unjustly placed on the MPs, or whether it was done, only in order to humiliate and embarrass them”.
