Hahn hands over donation from the EU for the Border Police and CUK

-

The European Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, today at the Ministry of Interior, donated 33 off-road vehicles designed for strengthening and modernizing the capacity of the Macedonian Border Police and the Centre for Crisis Management (CUK).

Hahn, in his address for the occasion of the handover of the donation, said it was a strong sign of the close cooperation between the “family of the European Union and Macedonia in dealing with the most serious refugee and migrant crisis that faces Europe.”

“The European Commission stands by you and will continue to be there for you in the future. The migrant crisis helped illustrate how your country and the entire Western Balkans are part of Europe as a whole, and how to work together in tackling challenges”, said Hahn.

The ceremony marked the handover of the donation and was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps.

Otherwise, the donation is for 33 off-road vehicles from the brand “SsangYong Rexton”, worth up to 800,000 euros. 31 of the vehicles are for the border police, and 2 are for the Centre for Crisis Management.
