The former Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski has received a referral document to report at the jail in Shuto Orizari, where he has to serve a 2-year sentence for the acquisition of the luxurious Mercedez.
According to the referral document, Gruevski has to report by the 8th of November in jail. The referral document was delivered this morning at the Criminal court, where he was waiting for the continuation of the trial of the “Trajectory” case.
The verdict for the SPO’s case named as “Tank”, the Judiciary Council, that was presided by judge Dobrila Kacarska, was announced on the 23rd of May and along with the assistant – minister of interior, Gjoko Popovski was also convicted and received a 6 and half years imprisonment sentence, while Nikola Gruevski received 2 years prison sentence. On the 5th of October, the Appellate Court in Skopje has made a decision to decrease Popovski’s sentence by two years less, and Gruevski’s verdict was confirmed in August.
Gruevski’s attorneys announced that they will ask for a postponement of the verdict. The defense can ask for a reassessment of the verdict that will have to be lodged during a period of 30 days starting from the day of receiving the referral document.
