Gruevski: If DUI tricks VMRO-DPMNE, there will be consequences in the future

Skopje, 9 January, 2017 - 8:54 (META)

The VMRO-DPMNE leader, Nikola Gruevski, in a new interview, this time for tomorrow’s edition of “Dnevnik” says he will try to form a government, but not at any price.

Regarding the opinion that there is an atmosphere amongst the Albanian parties not wanting to enter a coalition with VMRO-DPMNE, Gruevski said the decision is for the parties to make themselves and nobody has the right to say that someone else pressurized them because ultimately the final decision is a personal one .

Should DUI decide not to enter a coalition with VMRO-DPMNE, but SDSM, Gruevski says this decision will have consequences in the future.

“If VMRO-DPMNE, as the winning party, are deceived by DUI, no matter what the reasons for this are, be sure that soon VMRO-DPMNE will return in a big way in the government and for at least two terms in a row. And we would not be under any obligation to form a composition of the government – said Gruevski.

Gruevski, however, did not directly answer the question of whether the common platform of DUI, Besa and the Albanian Alliance is acceptable for VMRO-DPMNE. Regarding the statement by Ahmeti where he states that his most important interests are the Albanians and the platform, Gruevski says his most important interests are the Macedonians, all Macedonian citizens, including Albanians. However, he added that “the platform Ahmeti drafted” politically will mostly help the SDSM in the Albanian electorate.
