Green light for ratification of the agreement with Bulgaria

The Committee for Foreign Policy has finished the debate about the draft bill for ratification of the Good Neighbourly Agreement between Bulgaria and Macedonia and suggested the Parliament discuss it at a plenary session.

The Good Neighborly Agreement and the Cooperation between both countries was signed by both countries’ prime ministers, Zoran Zaev and Bojko Borisov on the 1st of August in Skopje.

DOM’s MP, Liljana Popovska who is part of the parliamentary majority led by SDSM, stressed that the AGreement will remove Bulgaria’s blockade regarding Macedonia’s integration in the EU and NATO. The Agreement also provides an official recognition of the Macedonian language as separate because it is signed in Macedonian language in accordance with the Constitution and in Bulgarian language in accordance with the Constitution of Bulgaria.”

DUI’s Artan Grubi said that the Agreement is in the spirit of the efforts and the dedication of the parliamentary majority and the government on the principle of good inter-ethnic relations, ethnic equality and good relations without any issues with the neighbors and all of that directed towards the integration of the country in EU and NATO.
