Gjorcev expects relations to deepen, while Shekjerinska disappointed by Clinton’s defeat

-

The deputy president of SDSM, Radmila Shekjerinska is disappointed because the White House did not choose a woman president, while Vlatko Gjorcev of VMRO DPMNE is expecting the relations between USA and Macedonia to deepen, after the elections in both countries. These are the remarks of Shekjerinska and Gjorcev after the election of Donald Trump as the new president of USA.

Shejerinska, Gjorcev and Artan Grubi, the chief of staff at the cabinet of DUI’s leader, Ali Ahmeti, were part of the guests at the hotel “Alexander Palace” where the US Embassy to Macedonia had organized an event where they could watch the vote count from the presidential elections in the US.

“I cannot say that as a woman, I’m not disappointed that a woman president did not get into the White House, but it was the reflection of the people’s democratic will, as it will be on the 11th of December in Macedonia. The results have shown that regardless of the enormous media support and despite all of the predictions, the will of the citizen’s cannot be maneuvered”, said Shekjerinska, adding that she is hoping that the changes will occur in Macedonia as well.

On the other hand, Gjorcev concluded that Macedonia and USA will remain partners and allies.

“It’s interesting to observe the elections in America. The conclusion is that Macedonia and USA are partners, we communicate, we are allies, and after the elections in the US, as well as after the elections in Macedonia on the 11th of December, we will commence to retain and deepen the collaboration with the US”, said Gjorcev.
