At today’s press conference, State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Viktor Dimovski, announced that during the rule of VMRO-DPMNE, there had been abuse of power in the purchase and reconstruction of buildings for embassies, consulates and residences in Vienna, Prague, Budapest, Ljubljana and Istanbul.
This was confirmed after insight into the documentation for the purchase of facilities for diplomatic and consular offices, as well as direct inspection of the facilities themselves, which has been carried out in the past few months.
In 2007, the government approved 40m euros for the purchase of 15 diplomatic and consular posts, in December of the same year a mini-budget rebalance of another 10m euros were approved..
“All purchased buildings are located in locations where there are no embassies. The exception is Prague, where our first neighbor is the embassy of North Korea. The facilities are far from the other diplomatic locations and from the center of the city, that is, in ordinary residential areas. This also points to the possibility that the real price at the time it was purchased was lower”, said Dimovski.
