European Central Bank (ECB) today announced that it will continue with the current financial aid to Greek banks through the mechanism of emergency which is in force since February this year.
“Given the current circumstances, the Management Board of the European Central Bank decided to proceed with immediate liquidity of Greek banks,” the statement reads, but it is added that the decision may be reviewed at any time.
The statement reads that the European Central Bank will cooperate with the National Bank of Greece in order for financial stability to be maintained.
