Serbian Foreign Minister, Ivica Dačić, tonight announced that he agrees with the views of the Macedonian Foreign Ministry, because the friendship between Serbia and Macedonia should not be ruined, adding that this should apply to Belgrade and Skopje, reports a “Meta” correspondent from Belgrade.
His announcement comes after the Macedonia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaction to his statement that Serbia had made a huge mistake by recognizing Macedonia under its constitutional name, since Macedonia recognized Kosovo, and supported its admission to UNESCO, Dačić said that his “colleagues in Skopje know very well how much he contributed to the development of friendly relations, as Interior Minister and as Prime Minister and now as Minister of Foreign Affairs” and that “Serbia is one of the few countries that does not interfere in the internal affairs of Macedonia”.
Dačić pointed out that Macedonia “voted against the Serbian position on Kosovo’s admission to UNESCO, i.e. those who burned and torn down Serbian Orthodox churches and monasteries in Kosovo, only now to take care of them”. He also said that he had discussed the matter personally with Nikola Gruevski, FM Nikola Poposki, and also with President Gjorge Ivanov.
“To my Honourable colleagues from Skopje, you must have been aware that this would ruin our friendship. It is a clear message that Albanian interests or someone else’s, nonetheless, are more important than your friendship with Serbia”, reads the statement by the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“Belgrade has never and will not do harm to Skopje and would like the same respect in return. And if not, then no one has the right to be angry that Serbia is defending its interest”, the statement added.
