Bushati and Dimitrov agree on a joint government session in Autumn

-

Albania and Macedonia have no open issues, stated the Foreign Ministers of the two countries, Ditmir Bushati and Nikola Dimitrov at a joint press conference in Tirana. They also stated that they will be holding a joint session between the two governments this autumn in Podgradec, where they will discuss joint projects.

Albanian Foreign Minister Bushati said that Tirana wants to have good relations with Macedonia, because the country is an important neighbour to Albania.

“In the past there were some misconceptions about our views. Macedonia is an important neighbour to us and democratic stability, inter-ethnic harmony, especially between the Macedonian and Albanian communities, are of exceptional importance for Macedonia and Albania, but, also, stability for the whole region and for its European perspective”, said Bushati, adding that Macedonia can count on Albania’s support for NATO membership.

Dimitrov pointed out that the new government is hurriedly working on the adoption of the Law on the Languages it because it is in the interests not only for the Albanians living in Macedonia, but also for the stability for the whole country
During his visit to Tirana, the Macedonian Foreign Ministry will also meet with Prime Minister Edi Rama and the President of Albania, Ilir Meta.
