Borisov: Those Who Destroy Bulgarian Monuments Will Face Undesired Consequences

-

Macedonian Prime Minister Emil Dimitriev yesterday in Vienna assured his Bulgarian counterpart Boyko Borisov that the Macedonian authorities will respond to the sacrilege  of the memorial plaque of the Bulgarian heroes at Kajmakchalan, which was carried out by journalist Milenko Nedelkovski claims Bulgarian news website “Novinite“.
“I do not want to comment”, Borisov told reporters after the summit in Vienna.
Borisov, however, warned “as soon as they destroy Bulgarian monuments with hammers … there will be undesired consequences.”
The portal says Borisov thinks about the Macedonian authorities when they used the word “they”:
“When they need help, they will not receive it. We did not wait for someone to ask, but immediately sent food  and water (in response to the floods in Skopje and Tetovo in August) and all citizens were satisfied. On Wednesday, the government approved 300,000 lev (150,000 euros) in financial aid for them. Is this what we deserve for our fraternal relationship? Does it contribute to our friendship? Does it help Macedonia’s integration into the EU? Tomorrow we will be the ones who will have to vote for their entry into the EU”, said Borisov.
Journalist Milenko Nedelkovski on Thursday climbed the mountain peak Kajmakcalan and with a sledgehammer, illegally smashed the installed a memorial plaque dedicated to the Bulgarian soldiers who died on the top of the mountain during the First World War. Nedelkovski, on his “Facebook” profile published photos and destruction of the plaques.
The Macedonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday urged Bulgaria to respect international procedures for erecting such monuments.
“We expect our friends from the Republic of Bulgaria to respect internationally accepted procedures for erecting memorial monuments. At the same time, we expect institutions to discourage all involved who illegally placed landmarks on the territory of another state, which then may be targeted for acts of violence or create negative feelings among citizens”, reads a statement from the Macedonian Foreign Ministry.
