The Ambassadors of the US and EU, Jess Bailey and Aivo Orav met with the Director of the Agency for Audio and Audiovisual Media Services, Zoran Trajchevski.
“The meeting was held as part of an EU mission and the United States in the period before the dissolution of Parliament and no later than February 20, in consultation with international and local experts, to assess whether their are conditions to hold credible elections on April 24”, its states in the statement from the Agency.
In its assessment, as indicated by Ambassadors Bailey and Orav, they want to assess their measurable criteria: a cleansed electoral register, the operation of the State Electoral Commission, freedom in the media and the free participation of voters in the election”, without intimidation.
“Regarding the media, it was highlighted that the evaluation of the balance in media reporting is especially important, the tone of the notice and that the assessment of the balance is subject to longer and more complex analysis”, it said in the statement.
